SAN DIEGO – In his first race as a Hawk, David Gastelum led the way in the Ursula Rains Balboa Boogie 5K Saturday morning.

He had the fastest time for SDC running the 5K course in 19:53 and finishing in 36th. Making her debut as well, Allyson Hendricks was the fastest female for SDC finishing in 52nd place with a 20:31 time. Reinging All-GSAC runner Michelle Morgan was 27 seconds behind Hendricks with a 21:03 time, good for 53rd.

Gage Shelmadine finished the course in 61st place and 22:05. Derek Novsek followed in 69th place at 23:16. Collen Murphy and Henriette Gahmig finished within seconds of each other in 81st and 82nd place at 25:12 and 25:15 respectively.

Ruth Aguilar and Andrea Plata rounded out the Hawks runners.

SDC will run in two weeks in the Cal State Fullerton Invitational.
